Flathead Lake Vacation Rental in Somers, Montana

The Evergreen is a Flathead Lake vacation rental in Somers, Montana, about 8 minutes from the lake's north shore. It sleeps 14+ in six bedrooms and comes with a private hot tub, a barrel sauna, a speakeasy and a game room. It is a group home near the lake rather than a lakefront cabin, so you get space and amenities and use public beaches, ramps and state parks for lake time.

Lake house, cabin or group home?

Searching for Flathead Lake rentals usually turns up three kinds of places: small lakefront cabins, condos in town, and larger homes a short drive from the water. Lakefront cabins are lovely for a couple or a small family, but they rarely sleep a big group and often come with one or two bathrooms. If you are travelling with several families or a group of friends, a larger home near the lake usually works better.

The Evergreen is in that third group. It has six bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and flexible sleeping arrangements, and it sleeps 14+. We want to be clear about one thing: the house has no private, deeded, direct or property-specific lake access, and no boat, dock or slip is included. You reach Flathead Lake the way most visitors do, through nearby public beaches, boat ramps, marinas and state parks.

Why Somers works as a Flathead Lake base

Somers sits at the north end of Flathead Lake, which puts the rest of the Flathead Valley within easy reach. Somers Beach State Park is about 10 minutes from the house. Kalispell is about 20 minutes away for groceries and errands, and both Bigfork and Whitefish are about 30. Lakeside, on the west shore, is the gateway to Blacktail Mountain Ski Area.

That central spot matters on a group trip. Some people want a slow lake day, some want Glacier National Park, and some want to wander Bigfork's village. From Somers nobody has a long drive, and everyone meets back at the hot tub in the evening.

Planning lake days without private access

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks runs several state parks around Flathead Lake, including Somers Beach, Wayfarers near Bigfork, West Shore, and Wild Horse Island, which you can only reach by boat. Each park lists its own facilities, fees and seasons, so check the FWP page before you go.

Bringing a boat? The driveway fits three vehicles plus a trailer. Montana requires watercraft inspections for aquatic invasive species, so plan time for an inspection station before you launch at a public ramp. Boat rentals and guided trips operate from marinas around the lake; book them directly with the operator.

What you get at the house

Lake trips are about the evenings as much as the days. The Evergreen has a covered back deck with string lights, a private hot tub, a barrel sauna and a stone fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs. Outside there are giant lawn games, BucketGolf, golf chipping and axe throwing.

Inside you will find a chef-style kitchen with island seating, a long dining table, a stone-fireplace great room, a second lounge with a fireplace and puzzle table, a kids climbing gym, a private speakeasy with a poker table, and a game room with arcade cabinets, a pool table, shuffleboard, foosball and air hockey. WiFi, a washer and dryer and free parking are included.

Somers, Lakeside or Bigfork?

People looking for a Somers, Lakeside or Bigfork vacation rental are often choosing a side of the lake. Lakeside, on the west shore, is closest to Blacktail Mountain. Bigfork, on the northeast shore, has a walkable village and summer theater. Somers, at the north end, is in between and closest to Kalispell and Glacier Park International Airport.

If your group is bigger than one house, our sister home is The Tamarack (Lakeside, Montana). The two homes are booked separately, each with its own house rules.

Flathead Lake through the seasons

Summer is the busiest time on Flathead Lake, with long days for swimming, boating and paddling, and the full Glacier National Park season. Early fall is quieter, with cooler nights that suit the hot tub and fire pit. Winter turns the house into a ski and sauna base, while spring brings fewer visitors and changing conditions. Pick the season that suits your group and check the official sources for park and road status.

The Evergreen has no private, deeded, direct or property-specific lake access. Flathead Lake is reached the same way everyone else does — nearby public beaches, public boat ramps, marinas and parks. No boat, dock or slip is included with the stay.

  • Decide how many lake days you want and which public parks you will use.
